Upcycled Clothing Classes



Upcycled Clothing Classes now offered at Lines of Designs (Boulder Path Designs) by Bunny Henningsen in The Dalles, Oregon


Currently there are four classes to choose from. 

1. Beginning sewing: Upcycled T-shirt Top.

2. Bustle Jacket.

3. Pullover Sweater to Cardigan.

4. Lagenlook Long Dress.

Each class will require basic sewing supplies and a sewing machine in good working order. Experience using a rotary cutter is helpful but not necessary. We will allow time for new users. Please print out the supply list for reference.

Class Descriptions:


Upcycled T-shirt Top:

This is a four hour beginning sewing class perfect for students with no previous sewing experience.
You will learn how to use a rotary cutter, long ruler and cutting mat.
Supplies needed are:

A t-shirt or knit shirt that fits you well. A large or extra large men's button down the front shirt; and any other snippets of lace, odd pockets, vintage linens, etc. Extra materials allow for more artistic expression. T-shirt and men's shirts should be machine wash and dried before class.

Basic sewing supplies. (see above for link)

Class Dates: To be announced. ( we do private lessons with your schedule. Two person minimum.)

Cost:$40.00





Bustle Jacket:

This is a four hour class for students with basic sewing experience.
Supplies needed are:

A suit jacket that fits well. Depending on the color of your coat you might want to include supplies for the bustle part.
Good fabrics include: silk, rayon, light flannels, cotton and linen. Lace should be at least 1 1/2 wide. Thrift store dresses, skirts and tops with fabric and patterns you want to include are great. All clothing should be machine wash and dried before class.

You will need  large sharp scissors and basic sewing supplies. (see above for link)

Class Dates: Future Class (We do private classes. Two person minimum.)

Cost: $40.00


Pullover Sweater to Cardigan:

This is a Four hour class for students with basic sewing experience.
You will need a pullover sweater. Most materials will work however, stay away from chenille as it is really messy and hard to work with.
A men's flannel shirt
lace at least 1" to 1 1/2" wide and enough from top to bottom of the sweater twice and a little extra.
All clothing should be machine wash and dried before class.
You will need large sharp scissors and basic sewing supplies. (see above for link)

Class Dates: To be determined. ( We do private classes. Two person minimum.)

Lagenlook Long Dress

This is a six hour class for students with advanced sewing skills.

You will need a blouse or knit top that fits you well. In addition you will need at least four large or extra large men's button down the front shirts. For more artistic expression, vintage linens, lace, lacy slips, or any other thrift store finds you would like to include is great! More supplies allow for lots of possibilities. All clothing should be machine wash and dried before class.

You will need large sharp scissors and basic sewing supplies. (see above for link)

Class Dates: Private classes available. Two person minimum.

Cost: $60.00

There is a two student minimum and a four student maximum for each class. Classes are for ages 12 and above. If we don't have two students, the class will be cancelled and your money refunded or you may use it as credit for another class.
